gameboymusicclub, short "GBMC", has been initiated in 2002, by Wolfgang Kopper - a legend in Vienna`s alternative scene already by then - and Herbert Weixelbaum, who has also been active since the early 1980`s.
The gameboy is their instrument, and they play it with stunning perfection. Solo or synchronised, the collective consists of amateurs as well as professional musicians, and their project is not just a simple band, it is a collective, where members alternate, subprojects are created, and sounds vary from retro to futurist.
Acting not only as collective, but also as open platform for interested musicians to provide and assist achieving understanding of contemporary music.
Their monthly club at the electronic avantgarde club Rhiz in Vienna has been running for years, and their concerts are both strange and captivating.
